Nestled away in the center of the historic city of Avignon, Le Nid pampers locals with a fashion and design boutique selling French-made goods, a yoga studio, and a classy café located near the entrance to this wonderful concept store. Seated on Almonda chairs under impressive light fixtures shaped like birds’ nests by Benoit Redard, nibble on inspired organic and vegetarian-friendly cuisine. The other day at lunch, we had a nice revisited maki prepared as a round of vinegary rice with crabmeat, seaweed tartare, preserved lemon and a spirulina vinaigrette; crisp vegetable red curry (eggplant, carrots, zucchini); before a delicious raw chocolate-hazelnut-sesame tart, or a chilled melon and verbena soup. Another option is the bowl of the day, like the combo of quinoa, smoked tofu, eggplant purée, melon, radishes and cilantro. // M.F.
