The hard-partying crowd has found its new haunt! On one of the swankiest streets in the Upper Marais neighborhood, the Experimental Group has given the former cocktail bar Sinner a very Mad Men-esque makeover, orchestrated by designer Tristan Auer. The result? A dazzlingly glam space inspired by the chop houses of 1950s New York, alchemizing monumental arched ceilings, a plant-covered sunroom, leather banquette seating, sensual curtains and oversized chandeliers. To fuel these Manhattan-inspired evenings, the menu crafted by Mélanie Serre (the former chef at L’Auberge du Bassin in Lège-Cap-Ferret) reinvents American classics with a touch of French elegance: lobster roll on a brioche bun, slow-roasted pork belly with a honey glaze, mac & cheese, banana splits… The night we went, we opted for a big briny feast starting with some divine Gillardeau oysters, followed by a nicely balanced meagre carpaccio seasoned with preserved kumquat, plus pink and black radishes, before an impressive (whole!) lobster linguine in a tantalizing piment d’Espelette spiced bisque. The final step in this journey? A Paris-New York version of the Paris-Brest pastry, aka a sugar-glazed cream puff stuffed with creamy pecan ganache! // Angela Dolu

FEELING THIRSTY? Both conventional and organic wines (Hibou, a minervois from the Domaine de la Senche at €10 a glass, Lyseras, a Saint-Joseph white from Yves Cuilleron at €70 a bottle), though we prefer the experimental cocktails, including a Dry Martini served with an extra vial of gin on the side (€17), or a NA American Dream combining Amarico, homemade bissap, tonic and an olive (€12)…which you can also sip at the bar near the entrance.
PRICE: : Appetizers €16-29, mains €24-79, desserts €12-14.
