Yes, the name, French for “nutcase,” is a little irritating; sure, the neighborhood isn’t necessarily the most exciting one in Paris; but still, these sandwiches served on Rue Pigalle look more than decent… At this small bar surrounded by a few tables, the trio of Marc-Élie Hayek, Jules Behar and Arthur Billard do what they do best, showcase comforting Mediterranean cooking in its on-the-go iteration. So… will it be a pastrami, Tunisian, kefta smash, falafel or Italian sandwich? We chose the vibrant smash burger: kefta meatballs with crispy edges, Serrano bacon, sweet peppers, fresh tomatoes, onions, dill and a healthy dose of olive and garlic yogurt sauce, which fortunately didn’t turn the semolina bread holding it all together into a soggy mess. For a side, we opted for the rather underwhelming roasted potatoes with tzatziki and even more garlic and olives, before a nicely undercooked almond and orange blossom cookie. After all that, a little siesta is in order! // Théodule Mollard
