Third time’s the charm! Rough, crumbling plaster walls, a shiny new Marzocco coffee machine, a vintage counter and a sun-drenched terrace… Charly Meerbergen and Loïc Installé have treated themselves to a brand-new Belga & Co to celebrate ten years of their beloved brand. Right where Avenue Brugmann meets Chaussée de Waterloo, this bright spot with huge floor-to-ceiling windows welcomes coffee addicts early when the clock strikes seven, eager for their caffeine fix. No table service here, just a leather banquette to plonk your bum on as you patiently wait for the crème de la crème of caffeinated pleasures or caffeine-free thrills – a shout out to the flat white with oat milk, one of the best in the capital! In fact, if it pairs with milk, it’s on the menu: coconut matcha, mocha latte and hojicha latte, all served in stylish branded cups. As for solid fuel, you’re in for some fun: homemade carrot cake with mascarpone icing, granola sweetened with poached pear or – better yet – the breakfast muffin stacked with crispy bacon, eggs, oozy cheddar and Goods hot sauce. · Jeanne Jaco
THE HIDDEN GEM: The incredibly refreshing seasonal lemonade, like the clementine and rosemary version (€4.70).
