No stroll around the Flagey ponds is complete without a stop at Cones! The man behind this irrestible ice cream parlor where you can’t help but linger? A certain Mr. Alejandro Atampi, a Buenos Aires native and trained master ice cream maker who honed his craft in New York. Since opening up shop, his delicious scoops have become quite the local attraction. So what’s his secret recipe? A splash of South-American flair, perfect for when the sun’s out in full force, bringing a burst of color and flavor to the (sometimes long) lines of eager customers, waiting patiently underneath the blue-and-white striped awning. Our recs? The flavor-packed pistachio ice cream which is almost brown in color (with no artificial colorings in sight); the dulce de leche, intense and creamy; and the slightly bitter yet wildly refreshing mate ice cream – it’s oh-so good! More adventurous eaters can push the envelope with flavors like sweet potato, beetroot, corn, or cinnamon with honey, while others can play it safe with the anything-but-boring vanilla and chocolate. // Carla Cannolo
THE HIDDEN GEM: The aforementioned dulce de leche, full of rich caramel and creamy goodness (€3 per scoop).
