Pandora is far out of reach of this little boîte ran by Amélie Michel and Terry Bernard. Inside what used to be the former HQ of local specialty coffee pioneers Mokxa, the duo first ground their skills at the latter, before taking over the space in 2023. And with them, they brought a Marzocco, various gentle extraction machines (V60, Aeropress, Chemex) and a whole host of yummy pastries thanks to Robert Flaherty, Amélie’s husband (who also works at Odessa Comptoir). So, what can you expect? On-trend interiors (navy blue walls, vintage furniture, stickers slapped on the walls) and heavy-hitting java sourced from KB in Paris, Friedhats in Amsterdam and even Mokxa, right here in Lyon. Filter, long black, mochaccino, cold brew – the choice is yours. And don’t forget the cookies and different flavored scones (onion, cheddar and pepper, tomato and mozzarella, lemon or cranberry) concocted by Robert and Amélie. // Ama Pola
THE HIDDEN GEM: Mokxa’s Ethiopian Kelloo Wete prepared as a cold brew (€4), to be sipped with the ultra-gooey dark chocolate, oatmeal and walnut cookie (€3).
