When it comes to the Septime family, we’re enamored with Tapisserie! After two legendary restaurants, an incredible wine bar and an inn where life is something straight out of a dream, Théophile Pourriat and Bertrand Grébaut are trying their hand at sweets. Alongside Fanny Payre, they’ve opened a pastry shop with a modest wood frame, located just a stone’s throw from its older sisters on Rue de Charonne. What should you expect? Freshly baked treats that parade out of the oven like clockwork, scribbled out on the wall each day: at 8:30am, croissants, white peach Danishes, chocolate-praline rolls, sugar tarts and other flaky pastries; between 11am and noon, the already iconic Clamatarte made with maple syrup and whipped cream along with all the other very fruity and chocolatey tarts, plus freshly stuffed cream puffs; and all day long, a sizable selection of elegantly presented products to fill your shopping basket up with – peaches preserved in syrup, homemade granola, rhubarb jam… // J.Pa.
Hidden gem: Their beloved chou à la flouve, a cream puff stuffed with an ultra-silky cream infused with hay, which has caused more than one customer’s knees to buckle in delight (€2 each).
