If Wes Anderson directed an OSS 117 film, the villain’s lair would certainly look like this unclassifiable Serpent à Plume, an extravagant speakeasy hidden under the concept store owned by Alexander Rash, where you can buy pajamas and art books… In this vast underground space with arched ceilings with handsome décor by Vincent Darré, you’ll find ancient Mayan sculptures side by side with 70s furniture (a white Sede couch that snakes along the wall, black lacquered tables, Jean Royère light fixtures, etc.) and waitors rigged out in peacock blue bellboy suits. While three lovely creatures dressed in miniskirts spin some 80s-inspired electro, we dance below an erupting kitsch volcano, with a drink in hand, like the bitter Serpent à Plume with smoked rosemary, mezcal, Drambuie, Mancino Chinato vermouth and pine liqueur (€16). Mocktails are carefully made by the mischievous bartender as well. // A.B.
