Element Terre, my dear Watson! Thus began the natural adventure of Edip “Sherlock” Bolatoglu and doctor Henri Guillaume, two partners in crime whose friendship was cemented in the best kebab shop in the 10th arrondissement of Paris. You’ll find them a stone’s throw from Rue des Petites-Écuries, where the former opened Özlem, and the latter (who used to own Le Paradis de Benjamin) now watches over this soberly dressed wine shop (rustic wine barrels, bistro tables, a peacock blue kitchenette). Displayed on the wooden shelf, there’s a short selection of bottles at reasonable prices: an Anjou white from Lisanne Van Son (€18), an Alsatian Pet’Jan’La, bottled by Gabriel Willem and Léa Pallagès (€27), a Bugey Gamay produced by the Domaine Renardat Fache (€16), a Languedoc Syrah from Autour de l’Anne (€21)… Along with a few bottles from Spanish, Italian and Czech producers, which you can take to go with some canned blood sausage terrine from Anne Rozè or red Camargue rice from Le Mas de Variérole, which are displayed on one of the brick walls. In sum, a cleverly handled case. // Rosa Poulsard

The bullet-proof bottle: Rock & Porcelaine, a hearty blend of Gewurzt’, Pinot gris and Riesling produced by Heidi and Hubert Hausherr (15% ABV, that being said…), for those who are not afraid of “true” natural wine, according to the shopowner.
