The story: Lulu? That’s the pet name this cute little boutique hotel has given its neighbor, the Jardin du Luxembourg. At the helm, hotelier and interior designer Vanessa Scoffier (also behind Hôtel Henriette) has gone all-in on arty, modernist Paris, with raw concrete, brushed stainless steel and clean, bold lines, punctuated by design pieces from Verner Panton, Tommaso Barbi and Florian Schulz. Things take a softer turn in the spacious library and the bedrooms, the latter featuring plush carpeting, ecru tones and gauzy linen curtains, plus bathrooms decked out in pink, green or blue mosaic tiles. But the place to really put your feet up is beneath the glass roof of the winter garden, where the mood and the menu shift with the hours (mellow over breakfast, bright and breezy for daytime coffee, then softly lit when the bar takes the stage). Pure poetry! Double rooms from €152 a night. · Nella Gracie

Toiletries: Typology bar soap, body wash shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

Breakfast: €20 per person, including Tanat coffee, Kusmi Tea teas, freshly squeezed fruit juices, homemade gluten-free multigrain bread, mini pastries, pancakes, granola, honey, jams and maple syrup, homemade chocolate banana cake, fresh fruit salad, yoghurts, carefully sourced cheeses and charcuterie, and eggs every which way…

Little luxury: Treat the Jardin du Luxembourg like your own backyard, just a few hundred meters from the hotel.
