THE STORY: This 140-year-old granite building, the legendary Montenvers refuge with expansive views of the Mer de Glace (the famous glacier valley on the Mont Blanc massif), has just been taken over by the Sibuet family, who also own the Hôtel des Dromonts. With rooms for two or six people and a dormitory with 10 bunkbeds, the cozy décor (coal mining lamps, trunks as nightstands…) was dreamt up to please anyone nostalgic for a time when every trip was an adventure. The perfect spot for couples (starting at €150 a night per person with half-board) and groups (starting at €80 a night for the dormitory with half-board).
