THE STORY: In the serene village of Barbizon, nestled at the edge of the Fontainebleau Forest, a long-forgotten blacksmith’s workshop and barn has been patiently waiting to be brought back to life… Its wish was finally granted by trained architects Adrien Boisvert, great-grandson of the property’s former owner, and Marie Cansouline, who left behind their concept store in Montpellier for a chance to carry on the family legacy. Thus, the proud Villa Albertine was born: meticulously restored down to the finest detail, with whitewashed walls, concrete, wood and local sandstone, the villa has been painted an immaculate shade of white. The space features four double bedrooms ideal for big groups on the move, graphically pleasing bathrooms and a stunning open-plan living and dining area with cathedral ceilings. The cherry on top of this Fontainebleau cake? Two spacious terraces and a private garden with a saltwater pool – guaranteed to be free from prying eyes. Every element was designed with sustainability in mind, from the French-made paints and local hemp-wool insulation to the washing machine and toilet system that reuse rainwater… One thing’s for sure: you’ll love stepping out of the woods and into this dream country retreat! The house can sleep up to 11 guests, and starts at €720 a night.
