The dream is spilling over into real life! Dreamin’ Man, now in its second iteration, is gently waking up this small street between Les Halles and Palais Royal. Once a fishmonger’s, the space has been revamped to feature stripped-down walls and pristine tiling, a feat of wabi-sabi charm with its factory-style ceiling lamps, Noguchi light fixtures and communal table carved from a 130-year-old tree trunk. Here, music lover and barista Yuichiro Sugiyama and pastry chef Yui Matsuzaki welcome a very discerning crowd of jet-set fashionistas and neighborhood regulars. If you want something to eat, consider one of their incredibly tender sandos (egg or tuna salad) or a divine onigiri, in addition to their famous sweet treats: scones, cannelés, oat cookies, banana bread and a cake of the day – all of which is served with folk music playing in the background, from Neil Young to Leonard Cohen. Tend to stick to your beloved 11th arrondissement? Lucky for you, the duo still runs a location at 140 Rue Amelot, and more recently, another at 12 Rue Perré in the 3rd. // Madeleine Proust

FEELING THIRSTY? : In addition to the smoothies and cold-pressed juices (Lucky Pool combing watermelon, lime and mint for example, €5-12), matcha and hojicha teas (€5.50 to €6.50), Yuichiro serves excellent and expertly sourced specialty coffee (€4-7), like the elegant Volcan Azul from Costa Rica roasted by April in Copenhagen… until they are able to open up their very own roasters!
PRICE: : Sandos and onigiri €12, granola bowls €12, sweets €4-5.
