NUMBER OF ROOMS: 30 rooms
ANNUAL CLOSURE: Open all year round.

THE STORY: Hieroglyphic bas-reliefs and sculptures of the Egyptian goddess Hathor… The tiny Place du Caire is home to a façade that could beguile the Nile! Vacant for the last 10 years, the building in question was renovated by Charlotte and Samuel Castro (the former used to be an actor and restaurateur, the latter is a neurologist and emergency doctor), who entrusted their project to architect Vincent Bastie – cofounder of the Artefak agency. After 18 months of renovations, the Hôtel du Sentier offers up 30 spacious, luminous rooms spread over six floors, crafted with fine materials (solid oak floors, marble bathtubs and showers, black porcelain switches…), some of which are equipped with superb patterned windows – like the clover version on the fourth floor that respects the original model from 1826. A special mention for the couple’s eco-conscious practices: waste collection and sorting, heat provided by wastewater treatment plants… and locally-sourced fare at the bistro, which you can enjoy on the terrace! Double rooms starting at €180 a night.

TOILETRIES: My Aromatic Wish soap, body lotion and a “hair, body and soul” product.
INTERNET: Wifi.
BREAKFAST: Room service (€20) with coffee, tea, fresh fruit juice, croissants, chocolate croissants, tartines with butter and jam, fruit salad…
LITTLE LUXURY: The two bedrooms on the top floor have a rooftop terrace and an incredible view of Paris and the Eiffel Tower!
