The former Brasserie Laumière has been given a makeover, right down to the name, in order to carve out a new life for itself as a neighborhood café (bright yellow doors, a shiny zinc-topped bar, school chairs, a south-facing terrace). In the kitchen, you’ll find Thibault de Maillard (ex-Hôtel Royal Madeleine) rolling out the classics with a menu that’s as short as it is sweet, all prepared with impeccably sourced organic ingredients: incredible herring with potato salad pimped out with slow-roasted tomatoes; juicy honey-roasted pork tenderloin with caramelized onions and pickled grapes; and for dessert, a delightful combo of greengage compote, fontainebleau and crumble topping. At night, nibble on simple things: croque monsieurs, baked camembert, charcuterie boards… before doing shots until midnight! // Noël Flantier
