Lung Wah

A Chinese news channel humming away in the background, paper tablecloths and a faded menu that you consult directly from the window display. At Lung Wah, there’s no fine dining mannerisms or endlessly long menus, even if all of Chinatown and Antwerp’s elite restaurant scene can be found at this dive from a Cantonese master roaster. Skip the sauce-based dishes in favor of one of the five house specialties: lacquered roast duck, suckling pork, crispy pork, char siu or spare ribs, which chef Chan Chi Lap has raised to the level of masterpieces. Devour them under the harsh neon lights in the backroom or take them to go for a feast with friends on the banks of the Scheldt River. // Sugar Kowalczyk

FEELING THIRSTY? A short but effective drinks menu: Tsingtao beer (€3.80 for 330 ml) or mass-produced soda (€2.80).

PRICE: Peking duck €14-28 (half or whole), dishes €10-17.
