Good things always come in threes, so it’s no surprise that the Moko family has welcomed a new member to its ranks! Already the proud parents of Mokonuts and Mokoloco, Moko Hirayama and Omar Koreitem are happy to introduce you to the baby of the family, a cross between a bistro and a tearoom. On the big communal table, surrounded by vases of fresh flowers and organic light fixtures, a series of thrilling bento boxes file out at lunchtime, served with care: slow-cooked salmon tucked into some sesame potato salad, crisp and tangy raw carrots, shaved red cabbage, rice sprinkled with red shiso and half a soft-boiled egg. If you want something to satisfy your sweet tooth, it’s hard to pass up Moko’s iconic cookies (dark chocolate and fleur de sel, chocolate and peanut, miso and sesame), which now fight for glory alongside a selection of financiers, madeleines and scones, not to mention a few more elaborate desserts – which, the day we went, included a silky Japanese-style preserved lemon flan. Got the morning munchies? The duo pampers customers starting at breakfast, with brunch options for those who like to sleep in on Saturdays (a main course, vegetable-heavy sides, hot and cold beverages). // Roberto Arenales
