When the hat-wearing Angela greets you from behind the counter of her very ordinary shop (basic tables and barstools, posters and post cards hung on the walls), her dexterous hands are already splitting open the crispy baguette. She then continues to spread it with mayonnaise and Maggi sauce, before filling it with grated pickled carrots, cucumber, cilantro and your choice of Vietnamese pâté, caramel pork, marinated beef, chicken or tofu, and chilies too if you are feeling up to them. A few other speedy options: bun bo xao with rice noodles, the protein of your choice, nuoc mam sauce, peanuts and plenty of tasty raw vegetables; beef or chicken rice bowls with sweet and sour vegetables; and chicken curry on Tuesdays. // T.V.X.

FEELING THIRSTY? To stay hydrated, there’s a decent bubble tea (€4.50) or Singha beer which you can take to go (€3.50).

PRICE: Banh mi €6-8, bun bo xao €11-13, rice dishes €11-13.
