The locals in the Saint-Maur neighborhood have been pretty happy since Chanceux first opened up! Thomas Lehoux (the cofounder of Ten Belles and Brûlerie de Belleville) and Farah Laacher (ex-Fontaine de Belleville) have turned this former tattoo studio into an incredible neighborhood épicerie, where you’ll want to take up permanent residence: in the mornings for the java and the muxu (a type of Basque macaron), at lunchtime for the outstanding sandwiches (brie de Meaux, endives cooked in cider and toasted walnuts) and two dishes of the day (including a vegetarian option), and in the late afternoon so you can warm up with a bowl of soup after doing your grocery shopping. Grab all of the following off the shelves before continuing on with your day: fennel grown less than 200 kilometers outside of Paris, an electrifying rhubarb-mint jam, salted caramel, homemade breadcrumbs… What a stroke of good luck! // Adrien Bir

Hidden gem: The jar of homemade pickled zucchini with coriander seeds and cider vinegar (€5 for 360 g).
