It’s been almost 10 years since former banker Arthur Audibert threw out his PowerPoint files to study the alchemy of coffee. After getting some inspiration from Antoine Netien (Coutume in Paris), he opened his pretty cream-colored boutique with Ananbô exotic wallpaper accent walls. Seated on the peaceful terrace, with a pastry from Zürcher in hand, sip on a cup of joe, which though sourced from the other side of the globe (Ethiopia, Peru, Mexico, Rwanda), was roasted just four kilometers away in an atelier that you can visit on Bordeaux’s right bank. For aficionados, alongside the carefully-sourced beans, there’s also a handful of coffee-related accessories: Comandante coffee grinders, Florilège Massoubre mugs, Chemex coffeemaker, Hario kettles, Jura E8 espresso grinder… // Albert Gredinbar

The hidden gem: A coffee that wakes you straight up: Arema, a pure Brazilian bean with hazelnut and milk chocolate notes (€13.50 for 500 g).
