THE STORY: Not a fan of the Chevreuse Valley? Wait until you see the Abbaye des Vaux-de-Cernay, which used to belong to Charlotte de Rothschild: a lost paradise located an hour outside of Paris, which is a saving grace from the hectic pace of everyday city life. Now run by the Paris Society group, which is on a mission to build a sizable collection of restaurants, clubs, ginguettes and hotels (including the Refuge de Solaise), its 900 years of history have been enhanced by interior decorator Cordelia de Castellane, for an estate that’s more majestic than ever before. So if you want a retreat from the real world, there are three options to choose from: the Abbaye with its slew of bedrooms that have been given the royal treatment, all while remaining very chic and true to their original style; the Haras with its cozy attic rooms, which also boast a sublime spa and wellness space; and the three Pavillons (independent houses) scattered across the estate, which provide you with every imaginable comfort. All of the different options are clad with marquetry, old tapestries and furniture from time immemorial. What about the extras? There’s so much to do, you won’t know where to start: there’s a pool, a tennis court, a kids’ club, yoga classes, a movie theater, a gym and so on and so forth. Double rooms starting at €270 a night.

TOILETRIES: Environmentally friendly soap, body wash and shampoo.
BREAKFAST: Buffet breakfast included, featuring a selection of hot drinks, fruit juices, breads, viennoiseries, honey, jam, pastries, eggs, cheeses, charcuteries, salads… All of which are savored in what feels like the Hogwarts dining hall.
LITTLE LUXURY: Take a two-person boat tour of the estate’s lake, all while cosplaying Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy if you so wish.
