THE STORY: A German-Belgian couple who have been living in Guéthary for twenty years, Ann and Frank Menschel left their clothing brand 2NDSKY to open Villa Anvers in 2015. The spot in question? An etxe (a typical Basque house) from 1880, with a whitewashed façade, red shutters and a timbered frame, perched on a cliff overlooking the Parlementia Beach! That’s where the owners now welcome guests in five independent apartments, with coconut fiber mats on the floors, vintage furniture (an Eames armchair, a Fritz Hansen chair…) and private balconies with views of the Guéthary lighthouse for two of the rooms. Jaws will drop! Apartments starting at €125 a night.
TOILETRIES: Aesop body wash.
INTERNET: Wifi.
BREAKFAST: No, but guests are directed towards Providence, where they will be warmly received!
LITTLE LUXURY: Jogging along the private trial to the ocean, with a surfboard under your arm if you feel like it…
