THE STORY? An iconic figure on Basque Country postcards since 1907, the Hotel Regina has undergone a facelift thanks to the Experimental Group. Built on a cliff facing the ocean, the sublime building royally overlooks the bay of Biarritz and offers a view that’s so rarely seen. With interior designer Dorothée Meilichzon at the helm, its large, well-preserved, emblematic volumes have been skillfully matched to local inspirations – or when Art Deco meets neo-Basque style, all brought to life by the art of coastal living. The result? Surprising and elegant in equal measures, from the monumental atrium bathed in natural light, whose immense windows and Eiffel glass roof now house small lounges in delicate shades of red, green and blue, as well as luxurious sea-facing rooms which mix raw materials (straw, rope) with sailor stripes in an ocean liner style. The icing on the Basque cake? The hotel restaurant, Frenchie Biarritz, run by the unstoppable Greg Marchand! Double rooms from €150 per night.
