Eureka Mahatsa! What a rather fitting name (it means “grape” in Basque) for this spot run by Adrien Goudier, who – when not doing a spot of grape-picking himself – can be found championing a well-curated line-up of fairly priced bottles, in his half-timbered village wine shop. Think radical posters, dog-eared vinyl records and rows of wines lining the wooden shelves and tucked into crates scattered around the place, all politically charged. On the savvy recommendation of the sommelier (formerly of Maison Eguiazabal), we bagged ourselves: Okoro, a riesling from Baztango Xurie in Navarre (€29 a bottle); L’Amour Du Risque, a sparkling Bordeaux cabernet franc from the Hubert family estate (€17); and Inanna, a blend of tannat, syrah and cabernet franc from the southwest by Muriel Zoldan (€24). And for our alcohol-free friends? There’s Antidote from the Domaine des Grottes (€15), a sparkling mix of gamay grape juice and a herbal infusion, or a ginger and mango kefir from SafranFou (€5 for 330 ml). And how does Adrien top this all off? By hosting regular exhibitions, gigs, book signings… and tastings, of course. // Angela Dolu

THE BULLET-PROOF BOTTLE: Petit Prince, the result of an infusion of grenache noir and a maceration of carignan, cinsault and tempranillo, by the Domaine de l’Alezan in Ardèche (€25). And even the label was made by the wine merchant!
