THE STORY: At the heart of a Cévennes village, this former Templar Knights residence built from massive stones now shelters some luxurious themed rooms — a beach bedroom where the ground is covered in sand, a Scottish suite draped in tartan…The people behind this funny place are afraid of nothing, not even of being taken for exotic eccentrics. The same revelry can be found in the massage room, where different types of treatments (Polynesian, Ayurvedic, hot stone) are available. €70 a treatment for an hour. Rooms and suites starting at €290 and €325.

TOILETRIES: Fragonard products (bath salts, bath gel, soap, shampoo).
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: Included, with hot drinks, orange juice, viennoiseries, jams made in the village, fresh fruits, cheese, yogurts. Charcuteries and eggs upon request.
MINI-BAR: No, but there’s a coffee maker and a fridge in three of the rooms.
LITTLE LUXURY: Two of the rooms have double bathtubs, another has a hot tub for couples that want to get clean together.
