THE STORY: The Domaine Koskenia is a hybrid spot: to start with, consider its location, perched up high on the Parlementia hill between Bidart and Guéthary. And then there’s the fact that you can rent out one or several of its houses, for two lovers or ten friends, depending on your vacation plans. This flexible formula was dreamt up by Suska and Philippe: she’s a lover of the natural world and he’s a lifelong surfer. Basque at heart, they finally returned home after exploring various parts of Asia and Africa. Their project here? To renovate the beautiful Domaine Koskenia, with its stunning 18th-century monastery and chapel. That’s why, just 100 meters from the best surf spots, you’ll now find two attached villas overlooking the coast, along with an apartment and a series of bedrooms, connected via a long alleyway lined with plane trees. There’s the Conciergerie Koskenia with its traditional red and white Basque facade and south-east-west facing apartment. The Villa Platanes boasts a giant reception room with views of the horizon. And the ecstatic Villa Oasis are former greenhouses that have been transformed into bedrooms, and have their own ocean-blue pool. In total, there are fourteen beds for seafaring groups, which you can rent out in their entirety during the summer months, or in part the rest of the year. Apartment for four guests starting at €630 for two nights; €1,660 a week.

BREAKFAST: Everything you could need to make it yourself in the communal kitchen. Otherwise, all of the classics are available upon request, like viennoiseries, seasonal fruit and breads made with heirloom flours.
TOILETRIES: Green Lab natural products.
LITTLE LUXURY: Rinsing off your surfboard in your own little garden on your way back from a surf session at the Alcyons beach on foot.
