NUMBER OF ROOMS: 250 rooms
CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open all year round

THE STORY: The Folie Douce group, who have been bringing the slopes to life ever since opening their first restaurant/club in Val d’Isère in 1981, has teamed up with the very exclusive Hôtels Particuliers in order to transform the former five-star Savoy in Chamonix into a chic refuge. In this building dating back from the early 1900s, luxury takes a more laid-back approach with raw materials (stones, concrete, wood) and gentle touches (velvet, thick carpeting). As for the rooms, there are three categories to choose from (Premium, Access and Hostel), so that you can enjoy the pool at the foot of the mountains, no matter your budget. Plus, there are five restaurants, a cocktail bar, a spa, a boutique and a club, along with all kinds of other services that make life easier for skiers, including ski lessons, cooking classes, cinema nights and a Kids’ Palace for the little ones. Rooms starting at €129 (Premium) and €69 (Access) a night, beds at €37 (Hostel).

TOILETRIES: Maison Margiela shampoo, body wash and body lotion in the Premium rooms, Malin+Goetz in the others.
INTERNET: Wifi (free).
BREAKFAST: There’s a buffet for €19 (€15 if you reserve ahead of time) with coffee or tea, bread, viennoiseries, fruit, cheeses, scrambled eggs, salads, ham, bacon, fromage blanc, fruit juice, waffles, pancakes, yogurts…
LITTLE LUXURY: Reaching the Domaine des Brévents on skis from the hotel, so you can enjoy the 56 kilometers of skiable slopes in Chamonix without ever having to take off your skis!
