THE STORY: When siblings Corto and Éole Peyron stumbled upon this six-story Haussmannian building on the edge of bustling Pigalle, they immediately dreamed of turning it into a homely pied-à-terre. To bring their vision to life, they teamed up with the crème de la crème of the hospitality world: Adrien Gloaguen, the founder of the Touriste hotel group (Les Deux Gares, Château d’Eau, Bienvenue, La Boétie), who offered his invaluable expertise; the Gasparetto Parenti interior design studio; and Olivier Guyot for renovation plans. Together, they created Hôtel Massé, an elegant and peaceful refuge where understated sophistication radiates from the moment you step into the lobby, which was designed as a convivial meeting place, and continues through the forty carpeted rooms. These combine maritime pine, okoumé wood and chrome details – with some boasting a balcony and others tucked under slanted mansard ceilings offering views of Paris’s zinc rooftops. Isn’t Massé simply beautiful? Double rooms from €149 per night. · Eddie Muffin
