THE STORY: If it’s the kids’ billionth lap of the living room and your nerves are officially frayed, it’s time to pack your bags and hop on a train to Villers-Cotterêts! Just one hour from Paris, Maison Nino is a joyfully designed family hideaway imagined by artistic director Fanny Petit (also behind the visual identity of Le Favori, the cult sandwich shop run by her partner, Charles Baudoux), where families of all shapes and sizes feel gloriously at home. Let’s go through the keyhole: a terrazzo-floored living room sets the tone, with a wood-burning stove and an emerald-green leather sofa. This flows into a fully equipped kitchen anchored by a generous table and kid-friendly seating, designed for noisy meals; followed by a beautifully tiled bathroom with a bathtub overlooking the leafy garden, where the children can roam free. Up in the eaves, a well-stocked playroom is cleverly tucked away, ready to buy you several blissful hours of peace. And when it’s finally time for bed, there are two adult bedrooms: one soft and soothing, color-drenched in sky-blue from carpet to ceiling; the other more intimate, channeling laid-back 70s vibes. The children’s room, meanwhile, is pure delight, splashed with Mathilde Cabanas floral wallpaper and dressed in Lucas du Tertre bed linen. In short: this little house fully understands family life! Entire house from €350 per night (minimum two-night stay). · Eddie Muffin

LITTLE LUXURY: Lose an afternoon curled up with a book in the house’s glorious glass-roofed extension, while the children frolic outside!
