Bound by both marriage and their work in kitchen of this restaurant, the Da Costas (Pauline, who used to work at Gaya, and Vincent, who used to work for Ollie Clarke) take a great deal of pleasure in delighting guests. The spot in question? A mini bistro with glossy tables, cerulean blue velvet banquette seating and chalkboard menus built into the walls, where you can confidently indulge in Parisian high bistronomy. The other day at lunch, the menu featured: flame-charred cauliflower chiaroscuro teased by some delightful slow-roasted veal rump; graceful baked endives with homemade (!) ham and a cheeky béchamel sauce prepared with pork fat – or crispy yet tender polenta topped with chicory and button mushrooms; before a virtuous Grenoblois with a silky coffee cream, unless you’d rather opt for a showy apple tart paired with cinnamon-infused raw cream. // Sophie Fonfek
