After stirring up some spellbinding vibes over in the Petites-Écuries neighborhood, the group behind Tempête is now blowing through Rue Martel as well, in a ten-square-meter space soberly decorated by the Mootz Pelé agency (a fully wood-clad facade, saloon doors, a bar crafted from wood sourced from the Jura department…). Huddled around the serving hatch, Maxime Huteau, Émile Bonnin and Hugo Audoire dish out the Asian-inspired creations from chef Nicolas Ricouard (ex-Mary Celeste), which are likely to whet your appetite: jewel-like fried chicken nuggets in an exciting mustardy sauce; perfect pork meatballs bobbing about in a panang broth (red curry and coconut milk) intensified by Thai basil; an enchanting bowl of homemade lamian (wheat noodles) prepared dan-dan-style (with ground beef and a creamy, gingery sesame sauce), slurped up with bok choy, thinly sliced scallions and marinated cucumber, and chili oil crisp; before the house’s lovely signature churros, dipped into an addictive miso caramel sauce. // Lester Grossman
