Let’s talk about it, without naming it. Founded by Kan and Sasi, this discreet Thai café with no name – literally unthaitled – hovers somewhere between Bangkok and the Canal Saint-Martin. Behind an unassuming white wooden storefront, a gleaming chrome counter hides a built-in Modbar coffee station – every barista’s dream. Meanwhile, the rest of the décor offers a carefully curated mix of brushed-metal low tables and mismatched, brightly colored plastic stools straight out of Southeast Asia, all assembled by Equilibrium Creative Lab. Between the Togo sofas and the brutalist tulip vases, kitschy plates thrifted from Thai markets add a welcome does of authenticity to an otherwise ultra-polished setting. In the cups: impeccably calibrated Thai coffee, or a meticulously shaken iced tea with lemon or milk. To nibble, a playful “tearamisu” or toasted brioche with Thai tea pudding. A word of warning: steer clear during fashion week, unless you fancy sharing a plastic stool – or the sidewalk – with a flotilla of fashionistas. · Anne Audine
THE HIDDEN GEM: The incredibly refreshing Thai tea with coconut water (€7).
