After getting her start in the wine industry in New York, Ashley Lhuillery had the brilliant idea to open a wine shop with a Soulages-esque storefront on the extremely commerce-heavy Rue Daguerre. The shelves are filled with enough interesting wine and beer that you’ll leave with a heavy tote bag and a light heart: if you’re in the mood for fermented grapes, there’s Blonde, an Ardèche viognier from Andrea Calek (€23 a bottle), an undosed Bonnet-Ponson Champagne (€39) or Boire Mavit, an Aude carignan produced by Olivier Mavit (€14); as for the hops, there’s a host of craft beers (Soquee, Beak, Põhjala, Fuerst Wiacek… €4-9). And as a bonus, there are a few carefully selected artisanal spirits to choose from, including a Japanese Togushi Kiwami whisky (€47 for 700 ml) and the Matashi chili-infused gin (€40 for 500 ml). // Marcelle Claudepierre
