Right across the street from their treasure-filled wine shop (Cave Sophie Germain), the trio of Haris Mebtoul, Jessica Morin and Barthélémy Gibault opened up a tiny épicerie/sandwich shop that would make even the most dedicated Right Bankers rush over to Denfert. Carefully displayed on the minimalist wooden shelves or behind the refrigerated glass counter: Mum’s sauces, chocolate cream pudding from Maison Marthe, Prince de Paris ham, Martin-Pouret Orléans mustard, Memmi bottarga, Louie Louie frozen pizzas, Datxa kombuchas, jars of caramel pork from Sillon… And if you want to eat something in house, opt for one of the small plates (Comté, baba ganoush, shakshouka, chorizo) or freshly-made sandwiches available in two sizes – think ham, butter and cornichons, vitello tonnato, or porchetta and arugula… // Marcelle Claudepierre
THE HIDDEN GEM: The stewed Coeur de Boeuf tomato salsa from Sauces Papillon (€47/kg), that you can pretend to have made yourself the next time you want to impress guests…
