NUMBER OF ROOMS: 5 rooms

THE STORY: When Jean Idiart took over this seventeenth-century Navarrian house in 2015 in order to protect the regional heritage, he almost certainly didn’t know that it would become a beautiful joangi (“passageway” in Basque) three years later, where you can listen to the Arnegui River sing. Decorated with artwork by young regional artists (collages, paintings, photographs), the five white and luminous bedrooms are filled with old and contemporary pieces by the furniture brand ALKI. It’s the perfect spot to just take it easy! €90 a night for a double room.

TOILETRIES: Argan oil soap.
INTERNET: Wifi (free)
BREAKFAST: Breakfast “à la française” included, with fine teas and locally roasted coffee, freshly baked bread, homemade jam, butter, olive oil from Malaga (for the Spaniards!), croissants, orange juice, yogurt and fresh fruits.
LITTLE LUXURY: Going for a dip or fishing in the Arnegui River that runs right below the garden.
