NUMBER OF ROOMS: 23 rooms and 1 suite
CLOSED ANNUALLY: Open year round
THE STORY: The old hotel of the Douves, facing Noirmoutier-en-l’Ile’s château fort was refreshed in 2012. The result is maritime, sober and contemporary: grey on the walls, natural fibers on the ground, paneling that has acquired a patina with age, Tolix chairs on the terrace…It’s gay, familial, not snobby, in short, exactly what you came to find in Noirmoutier. The rooms have a view of the pool or the castle, and there are lots of décor magazines to flip through under the quilts. Plus, the owners rent you flamboyant bikes for a tour of the island, and the pool is heated (practical when the Atlantic is still chilly…). Rooms from €59 to €180.
TOILETRIES: Shampoo, shower gel and body lotion.
INTERNET: Free wifi in the common rooms.
BREAKFAST: €10 with homemade crepes, pancakes and scones, fresh bread, viennoiseries, fruit salad, fromage blanc, berries, cereals, jams, cheeses, eggs upon request, hot drinks. And to pocket for the rest of the day, delicious homemade salted butter, chocolate or spiced caramels.
MINI-BAR: No, except in the suite, but some rooms have electric teapots with Love and Dammann teas.
LITTLE LUXURY: In each room, a mini guide of Noirmoutier, put together by Marianne, with promenades, cult restaurants and the best beaches for kids.
