Scarlet neon lights, ultramarine counters, flashes of stainless steel and light wood… In Brussels, the modernist diner goes Vietnamese! Smack in the middle of downtown Asiatown, the latest venture from the Wang siblings (already behind Kage – Best Mixomaniac Fooding Guide 2025, Kafei, and Cup 28°), this time joining forces with Anh Quân Nguyen (ex-Kafei), wipes the floor with cookie-cutter specialty coffee shops. Here, it’s bánh mì (pork, beef, chicken or egg, with classic, punchy fixings) and cà phê roasted in Anderlecht by Meteo Koffie, served with condensed milk, salted cream, egg yolk or even pandan. Meanwhile, over at the counter, cookies, tiramisu, and chiffon cake make fast friends with flavors from the Land of the Dragon – mango, coconut… and cà phê, naturally. Le drip, c’est chic! · Carrie Gosse
Ate: The classic bánh mì with cha lua (Vietnamese mortadella), char siu pork, pickled daikon and carrot, cilantro and mayo; a Vietnamese salted-cream coffee (a tad strong); and an incredible chocolate cà phê cookie.
