Forget about the classic burger-and-fries combo meal (that weighs heavy on both your conscience and your belly)! At Mannie, street food is going green… and it’s just as delicious! In this minimalist space that feels like a beauty pop-up shop, Maxime Rieuf and Cannelle Brenelière (both of whom used to work at Tiger Milk) have taken mouthwatering eats to the next level: vegetarian, homemade, seasonal, locally-sourced… and highly Instagrammable. Just take the day we went for lunch: after the Nitamago plate, aka three perfectly jammy half-eggs marinated in tamari and served with a lovely ginger-lemon mayonnaise, all sprinkled with sesame seeds and spring onions; we then had to choose between the house’s famous Broco Mania burger, which compiles a broccoli patty, melted cheddar, wholegrain honey mustard mayonnaise, cos lettuce, crispy onions and pickles from a neighboring shop; and the Bun Karaage (the one we opted for in the end), combining breaded cauliflower florets, red cabbage and carrot coleslaw, pickled jalapeños and lemon-ginger mayonnaise, all served in a light and fluffy bun and paired with some irresistible, crispy yet tender fried potatoes dusted with paprika. And to round out the meal, a perfect dark chocolate and fleur de sel cookie. // Madeleine Proust
