Fifty nuanced shades of coffee! That could be the credo of coffee-lovers Charles and Raphaël Corot, who, after a trip to the States for their studies, met back up in the French capital to open their first coffee shop. It’s a long, narrow space obscured by the facade of an old iconic creamery, where the Uchronia studio mixed up art deco mirrors and tiling with metal countertops and pops of color. In the cups? Nothing but traceable coffee that’s roasted in house, for an ethical cup of joe: chocolatey Brazilian Slow Dance, woodsy Burundian Coffee & Cigarettes, Ethiopian Rose des Sables with notes of litchi, jasmine and pineapple…. All of which can be savored the slow-drip way (Chemex or V60) or the classic way (espresso, latte, macchiato, etc.) with delicious homemade viennoiseries – croissants, hazelnut-praline or Iranian pistachio-white chocolate cookies, matcha cake, etc., all made even better by the soul and funk playlist. // Albertine Simonet
The hidden gem: A Wabi brew from Guatemala with notes of peach and hazelnut, intensified by the V60 extraction process (€6).
