It seemed like a bit of a challenge opening a natural wine shop in the center of Marseille’s 8th arrondissement, which is more inclined towards “daddy wines” from Bordeaux and big glasses of rosé filled with ice cubes rather than sulfite-free nectars. But that’s exactly what Pierre-François de Bernardi (a winemaker in Patrimonio and the founder of La Cave des Amis in Saint-Florent), Sandro Colavolpe (a former sommelier at Madame Jeanne) and Anne-Céline Pinauldt (who used to work as a government employee) set out to do. In a rather spacious locale with light wooden shelves, they managed to get their hands on wine verticals produced by some renowned winemakers (Hervé Souhaut, Philippe Valette…), bottles that are in high demand on iDealwine (Les Gélinettes, a grolleau from Mark Angeli at €35, Les Grandes Teppes, a chardonnay from Jean-François Ganevat for €100), and some very beautiful labels from regions across France (Mademoiselle M, a sauvignon from the Sancerre producer Alexandre Bain for €46, or a meursault from Philippe Pacalet at €128). Not to mention some exceptional Champagnes (Olivier Horiot, Ruppert-Leroy), spontaneous fermentation beers from the 3 Fonteinen brewery and whisky from Michel Couvreur. // Gwen Jacquère

THE BULLET-PROOF BOTTLE: Les Milans, an Auvergne pinot noir produced by Marie and Vincent Tricot (€26).
