It’s star power all the way at this restaurant with its toes in the grass: owner and maître d’ Benoit Brochard (ex-Gagnaire, Comme Chez Soi, Bon Bon), teamed with chef Alexandre Vaessen (ex-La Canne en Ville and La Villa in the Sky), are ready to bring the heat (and then some!). And while this cozy cocoon borrowed its name from the neighboring perinatal center, the cuisine is anything but laid-back. Here, future mums (and everyone else, for that matter) are pampered with sage yet sexy plates, along with an alternative drinks list that would make any seasoned mixologist swoon. As for the ingredients, the philosophy is crystal clear: everything is carefully, consciously and locally sourced. For us, the day we went for lunch: a bubbly Kir Royale served with bread from Matinal bakery and Château de Bousval’s extra-virgin olive oil for dipping; followed by vitello tonnato blanketed in a creamy sauce studded with toasted buckwheat and pickled mustard seeds; a wonderfully rich asparagus and pea risotto; and to finish on a sweet note, a Palet Breton shortbread paired with a knockout strawberry sorbet – not forgetting a tiny little madeleine fresh out the oven, to go with the bill! · Cléo Popina
