One coffee shop to rule them all! At the helm is caffeine obsessed Antoine Cornil (also the mastermind behind Bouche and My Little Cup), who decided to think smaller in order to dream bigger. Behind the listed facade of the former Minet Frères bookstore sits a veined green counter framed by cherry-red walls and, above all, a deliberately short menu devoted to espresso, and nothing but espresso. Pulled on the Modbar system into highly covetable (and frequently pilfered) Frizbee cups, the lineup features four specialty coffees from Dutch roaster Friedhats, alongside an exclusive blend by Wide Awake that’s always on offer. Feeling lost? Just ask the expert barista, or better yet, order a beautifully pulled coffee flight to taste your way through the menu. That morning, the beans on offer included: an anaerobic Rwandan from Gasharu with notes of cocoa; a washed Burundian Gitwe with hints of green tea and apricot; and a natural Ethiopian from Daniel Alemayehu, bursting with stone fruit and strawberry. Every coffee can be served as a cortado, flat white, espresso tonic and more. One espresso to rule your mornings! · Rita Misù
Hidden gem: The aforementioned Gitwe from Burundi‘s rolling hills, produced by a collective of independent growers sharing the same washing station (€4.20 an espresso).
