Don’t judge a book by its cover, or a restaurant by it storefront, for that matter. Nestled down a small, city-center street, this Cantonese canteen doesn’t look like much with its big lacquered duck stickers on the window, but it sure defies all predictions! Insiders who love Chinese and K-pop tunes come here for everything you can’t find elsewhere: beef bible tripe sautéed with ginger; chicken blood cooked with ginger and onions; chicken leg salad; plump mapo tofu; and explosive eggplant and scampi stew. It just goes to show, good taste is everywhere. // Rocky Simone
