The sun is definitely present at Les Deux Lunes in the Petit Bayonne neighborhood! Ceramicist Louise Devilder, who trained at Faktoria, and former professional swimmer/current barista Giacomo Perez-Dortona, combined their dual passions to create this adorable haven, a cross between a coffee shop and a ceramic studio, with unfinished walls, earth tones, vintage furniture and bouquets of dried flowers. The morning we went, as we admired Louise’s pottery, Giacomo prepared a perfectly balanced flat white from behind the counter, made with beans from the Parisian roasters Fève. And to go with it? A generous overnight porridge made with oats, homemade amlou (an argan oil-based nut butter) and fresh fruit, along with two boiled eggs served with toasted sourdough slathered in farmhouse butter. Other good options: the short vegetarian-friendly lunch menu (roasted beets, Beluga lentils and tahini dressing, grilled cheese sandwiches, etc.) and weekly workshops and night classes to dip your hands into the clay. // Maud Zarella
THE HIDDEN GEM: The ceramic pour-over filter and coffee pot combo, perfect for making two cups of joe.
